Kao dokaz toj tvrdnji navodi dobijene rezultate koji pokazuju da je 25% kravljeg genoma nastalo isklju\u010divo zbog elementa prenesenog najvjerojatnije iz DNK gmizavaca.<\/p>\n<p>Dobijeni nalazi kontradiktorni su tradicionalnom poimanju preno\u0161enja gena na potomstvo.<\/p>\n<p>Prema tom shva\u0107anju genetski se materijal prenosi vertikalno s roditelja na potomstvo ili, pak, u slu\u010daju bakterija to se preno\u0161enje mo\u017ee odvijati lateralno. Me\u0111utim, kao \u0161to i kod virusa HIV-a postoji \u201cpreskakanje\u201d gena na ljude s ostalih primata, tako je mogu\u0107e da i kod vi\u0161ih organizama, poput ki\u010dmenjaka i sisara, dolazi do horizontalnog preno\u0161enja gena.
