Up to SCG to unblock European process

Montenegrin Premier Milo Djukanovic said on Tuesday in Belgrade that with European Commissioner Chris Patten he agreed, as he said - "that it is up to Serbia and Montenegro to unblock the process" of European integration that "is slowed down" by problems of full cooperation with the war crimes tribunal and the harmonisation of our market. Djukanovic, talking to reporters with Patten after their talks, emphasized that Montenegro "so far had no part" in the problem of cooperation with the war crimes tribunal, but that, when it came to the harmonisation of the market, Serbia and Montenegro "are clearly mutually participating in that."

Election of Nikolic would strain relations

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic assessed on Tuesday that the election of Serbian Radical Party candidate Tomislav Nikolic for president of Serbia would clearly signal an aggravation of relations between Serbia and Montenegro. "The election of Tomislav Nikolic for president of Serbia would mean an aggravation of relations between Serbia and Montenegro, as his logic and stated attitude towards Montenegro is something that would be appropriately reflected in Montenegro," Vujanovic said at a news conference.
